Third District Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler says that she’s getting ready to head back to DC, preparing for a possible vote on President Obama’s request for the use of military force in Syria. Beutler says that she and her husband have spent much of the recess at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital in Palo Alto, at the bedside of her critically ill infant daughter. She says that doctors are happy with her progress, and have optimism about her future. However, Beutler says that she won’t be able to resume a full Congressional schedule until her daughter can come home. She is maintaining contact with staff, and plans to travel back and forth for critical votes. Beutler says that she’s also planning to set up a series of Telephone Town Halls, where she can communicate electronically with consitutents. Beutler is extending thanks to all of the people of Southwest Washington for their support and understanding during these difficult times, and she says that it continues to be an honor to represent this region.
