Kalama Steelhead Closes

Posted on 4th April 2018 at 08:58

Steelhead retention rules change today on the Kalama River. Starting today and going through May 15th, the Kalama is closed to retention of steelhead, going from the boundary markers at the mouth of the river to 1,000 feet below the fishway at the upper salmon hatchery. The Kalama River remains open for Spring Chinook fishing, with a limit of six fish, two of which may be adults. This rule change also eliminates the mandatory hatchery steelhead retention requirement. Retention of hatchery steelhead will be allowed above the upper salmon hatchery, going up to Summers Creek.
