Citing a loss of funding, KLTV Executive Barry Verrill is announcing cutbacks at the local cable access channel. In a letter sent to KLTV members yesterday, Verrill says that a reduction in franchise fees from Cowlitz County will necessitate reductions in staffing and in operating hours at the studio in Longview. Starting on Monday, November 4th, the KLTV studio on 12th Avenue will be open Monday through Fridays, from noon to 9 pm. Equipment checked out on Friday will be expected to be returned by the early afternoon on Monday. Producers with weekend shoots will need to pick their equipment up on Friday. Verrill says that they’ll provide another update, once they get final budget numbers. Verrill says that these are challenging times, but KLTV will continue to thrive.
