The Kelso School Board is now going over the preliminary 2013-2014 budget, presented last night in a workshop session. Superintendent Rob MacGregor says that it’s “better, but not great,” as district officials thank the Legislature for additional funding. MacGregor says that the action in Olympia helped make this budget much easier to prepare…ksdbudget…District officials say that the increased funding not only helps pay for all-day kindergarten in all of their elementary schools, but also pays for an English language learning coach, helps restore funding for bus replacement, and supports costs for teacher salary and benefit increases. With all-day kindergarten, district enrollment increases by about 50 FTE; the total 2013-2014 budget comes in at just over $49,713,000. That’s about 6.6 percent larger than last year’s budget.
