Kelso Police are now reporting that the woman who was hit Monday evening outside of the Kelso Public Library has died from her injuries. The victim has been identified at Georgia Brawand, 58, an eight-year employee of the Library. She had been involved in helping to pack up the Library for its pending move to the Three Rivers Mall, with several family members helping out. At about 5:20 pm on Monday, Brawand and her family were calling it a day; other family members had arrived to give them a ride home, pulling into the Museum parking lot. Kelso Police say that Brawand started heading across 4th Avenue, crossing on a diagonal, outside of the crosswalk. Robert Schumacher, 58, of Kelso turned onto 4th from Academy at that same time, and apparently hit Brawand as she was crossing the street. It’s noted that it was very dark and rainy at the time of the collision. No citations have been issued at this time, but the case has been forwarded to Detectives for further review. Memorial services are still pending.
