The Longview City Council meets at 7 pm tonight, with several items of note on the agenda. With the cancellation of the Longview Grand Prix Criterium Bike Race, it’s being suggested that three thousand dollars in Lodging Tax funds be reallocated to Squirrel Fest. There’s a resolution regarding the Mint Valley Golf Course, which apparently is looking to attract young golfers. The proposed resolution suggests that the price of annual Junior golf passes be dropped from 390 dollars to 150 dollars; course managers are also proposing that the Junior rate for nine holes be dropped from 11 dollars to 8 dollars. Kids age 13 and under would be allowed to play the Par 3 course for free, and the price for everyone above the age of 13 would be reduced to 5 dollars. On the end of the agenda is a report on the 2013 first-quarter General Fund Financial Review, and it appears that the city’s financial situation is perking up a bit. Sales taxes and overall revenue is up slightly in the first quarter, while projected expenditures are down.
