Lottery Thief Pleads

Posted on 31st January 2014 at 17:15

Katrina Bowen, 37, of Winlock is pleading guilty to stealing $178,000 in scratch-off lottery tickets from the convenience store that she was working at in Toledo. The Centralia Chronicle reports that Bowen entered her guilty plea earlier this week in Lewis County Superior Court, admitting that she stole about 500 lottery tickets per day over several months as she worked at the Toledo Flying K. The maximum prison term for first-degree theft is 15 years in prison, but someone with Bowen’s criminal background would have a standard sentencing range of zero to 90 days. However, because Bowen has pleaded guilty to a “special circumstance,” the judge could impose an exceptional sentence. The date for sentencing wasn’t announced.
