A man is dead after a deputy-involved shooting that took place last night in the parking lot of the Lucky Eagle Casino near Rochester. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reports that the shooting took place at about 7:45 last night, as they responded to a report from a family in Lakewood, who reported that a 55 year-old male family members was “acting erratically,” and was armed with a pistol. Deputies found the man’s car parked in the lot outside of the casino. They say that the man got out of the car, armed with the pistol. It’s reported that the man approached the deputy, and refused to obey several orders to drop the gun. The deputy fired, hitting the man several times. The man was airlifted to Saint Peters Hospital in Olympia, where he was later declared dead. The deputy has been placed on administrative leave, while the Region Three Critical Incident Team is investigating the incident. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is taking the lead on the investigation. Names have not yet been released.
