There are a couple of marijuana-related meetings planned for today. At 9:30 this morning, the Cowlitz County Commissioners will hold a public hearing on the ordinance that amends “Interim Official Controls” on recreational marijuana production, processing and retail sales in the unincorporated county. County legal counsel is advising that the “Interim Official Controls” remain in place for a year, while the county finalizes its rules and regulations for marijuana production, processing and retails sales.
The Kelso Planning Commission is also holding a public hearing this evening, where they will take public input on amendments to the city’s zoning ordinance, proposing the addition of a new chapter that deals with Marijuana-related Land Uses. These amendments include definitions that would apply under this ordinance, along with a land use table and setting the borders of an “overlay zone.” The Kelso Planning Commission also plans to take action after the public hearing, and would then forward that recommendation to the City Council. Tonight’s meeting and public hearing starts at 6 pm in the Kelso City Council chambers.
