The Longview City Council meets tonight, and on the agenda is a “reconsideration” of their rejection of the ordinance in regard to the zoning for marijuana-related businesses inside the city limits. Two weeks ago, the Council rejected that ordinance on a 4-2 vote, with Mayor Don Jensen declining to cast a vote. Council members Mary Jane Melink and Mike Wallin are requesting the reconsideration, with Wallin also offering a slate of proposed amendments to the ordinance. The full text of those proposed amendments is available on the City of Longview website. Also on this evening’s agenda will be a request for increases to the greens fees at the city-owned Mint Valley Golf Course, and a resolution that authorizes the City Manager to enter into an interlocal agreement for participation in a Cowlitz County Mental Health Court. The Council is also expected to take action on water rates for 2014. Tonight’s meeting starts at 7 pm in the City Council chambers on the second floor of the Longview City Hall, and is open to the public.
