Search teams equipped with four-wheelers met this morning at Castle Rock High School, which is serving as the command post for a missing 16 year-old boy. Around 11:20 yesterday morning, the mother of Elijah Velke, 16, called the Sheriff’s Office, reporting that he had not come home the night before. She fears that the teen is lost in the woods near their home on McKee Road; Velke’s father spent the day cruising the back roads, looking for any sign of him, without success. Deputies checked logging roads in the area, also without success. Elijah Velke is a 16 year-old white male, 5’ tall and 100 pounds, last seen wearing a dark shirt and blue jeans. It’s believed that he’s not prepared to stay out in the woods by himself for any length of time. As many as 80 searchers plan to meet at the high school at 8 this morning, and then will move out from there. If you have knowledge of where Elijah Velke might be, you’re asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 577-3092.
