First-degree domestic violence assault charges are being filed against Daniel Michael Thorpe, 34, of Longview, who was arrested Tuesday after his mother was found, severely beaten at her home in the St. Helens addition of Longview. In today’s Daily News, it’s reported that Thorpe called 911 at about 9:50 pm on Tuesday, reporting that his “mother needed help.” Officers found the 62 year-old woman inside the house, naked and severely injured. Further investigation shows that Thorpe had allegedly beaten the woman over several days, causing injuries that are reported to be life-threatening. She was able to tell police that it was her son who had beaten her. Thorpe was arrested further incident, while the woman was taken to St. John Medical Center for treatment. Thorpe had his first court appearance yesterday, where bail was set at $100,000. His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4th.
