James Heys-Olfon, 24, of Longview is listed in fair condition at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland, after he crashed his motorcycle yesterday afternoon on Oregon Highway 224 east of Estacada. Oregon State Police say that this happened around 3:20 yesterday afternoon, as Heys-Olfon was riding along the Clackamas River. Troopers say that he failed to make a curve, heading off the highway and down a steep 40-foot embankment. Heys-Olfon landed on some rocks, while the bike continued into the river. A high-angle rescue team was able to get Heys-Olfon off the rocks and to a landing zone, then he was taken by LifeFlight to Portland. A dive team was brought in to get the motorcycle out of the river. Continuing the investigation, OSP now says that charges of DUI, careless driving, no valid operator’s licenses and driving while uninsured are pending against Heys-Olfon.
