One man is under arrest on extortion charges, and Deputies are working to find a second suspect in a scheme reported yesterday morning by a Kelso man. Just before 5 am, a man called the Sheriff’s Office to report that the suspects had taken his Harley, and were trying to charge him money to get the bike returned. Deputies went to a home near Rocky Point to follow up, and the suspects reportedly rode off on the motorcycle. A brief chase went up North Pacific Avenue, with a crash reported in the 1900 block. Brett Alan Melville, 45, was arrested at gunpoint in a felony stop at that time, while the second suspect ran off. Melville is now being charged with second-degree extortion, possession of stolen property and driving while suspended. An extensive search was conducted for the second suspect; that person has been identified, and the effort to find him is continuing.
