Attorneys for Steven Moulton, 22, of Morton claim that he is not competent to stand trial on charges of sexually assaulting an eight year-old boy from Lacey. The Daily News says that they’ve been able to examine a psychologist’s report filed by Moulton’s attorneys, reportedly saying that Moulton is “mentally retarded,” and also suffers from cerebral palsy. The psychologist also notes that Moulton cannot tell time, can’t drive, and is unemployable, for the most part. The report notes that Moulton “hears demons,” and that he responds to their “orders.” On July 9th, Moulton allegedly attacked the eight year-old in a restroom at the North County Sports Complex in Castle Rock, pulling down his pants and pushing the boy to the floor, where he choked and bit him. Moulton is charged locally with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree child molestation and second-degree assault of a child. He’s also charged of under investigation for similar attacks in Lewis and Thurston counties. A hearing on Moulton’s mental competency is currently scheduled for the 22nd of this month in Cowlitz County Superior Court.
