Murder Arrest

Posted on 30th November 2015 at 09:08

An effort to exonerate a Longview man who was convicted of his mother’s murder back in 2000 apparently has resulted in the identification of a second suspect in the case. Longview Police report that the Innocence Project Northwest has taken up the case involving Donovan Allen, who was convicted in 2002 in the strangling and beating death of Sharon Cox of Longview. Working on Allen’s behalf, the Innocence Project requested additional DNA testing on items connected to the crime, and that testing reportedly connects a second man to the case. Longview Police now say that the results of that testing shows “compelling evidence” that Brian Del Kitts, 42, of Kelso is a second suspect in the case. Detectives re-opened the case in early October, and brought Kitts in for questioning. On the 24th of this month, Kitts was interviewed again, and then was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder. Kitts is currently being held without bail in the Cowlitz County Jail, as this investigation continues.
