New Year’s Hikes

Posted on 31st December 2014 at 09:08

You may want to kick off the New Year on a more expansive note, heading out to drink in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. New Year’s Day is a “free day” at state parks in Washington, meaning that no Discover Pass is needed to visit. In addition, there are free “First Day Hikes” taking place all around Washington and Oregon on New Year’s Day. Free guided hikes are being offered at 25 locations in Washington and at 31 state parks in Oregon, all intended as a way to get you and your family outside and enjoying our local natural beauty. Some of the closer hikes are at Cape Disappointment State Park near Long Beach, at Millersylvania State Park near Olympia, L. L. Stub Stewart State Park near Vernonia, and Fort Stevens State Park near Astoria. Full details are available on the Washington and Oregon state parks web pages.
