Longview’s teachers still have no contract with the School District, as another round of negotiations was unsuccessful in reaching an agreement. Today’s Daily News reports on the latest round of talks, saying that no new tentative contract was settled. One of the main topics of discussion is class size in the current school year; a previous contract offer was overwhelmingly rejected by the Longview Education Association membership, mostly over class size issues. It was announced that the district does plan to open an additional 14 elementary school classrooms, and union officials are still assessing how that move will address their concerns. Another round of negotiations is set for Wednesday, October 2nd.
