The Northwest Voices literary series continues today, celebrating William Stafford’s birthday with a visit to the local area from poet Lana Hechtman Ayers. She’s originally from New York, and now lives in Kingston, up on the Olympic Peninsula. She’s been nominated for the National Book Award, and currently runs “Night Rain Poetry.” Ayers is the publisher of a couple of current poetry series, and also is the poetry editor of the “Crab Creek Review. Along with her ongoing interest in poetry, Ayers holds masters degrees in math and psychology, and wants to return to school to study astrophysics. Ayers will be involved in two events in the local area today, the first being a 3 pm workshop in room 119 of the Main building at LCC. At 7 pm, there will be a birthday celebration at the Longview Public Library, with cake, an open mike, then a reading from Ayers herself. Both events are free and open to anyone interested.
