They’re still working to determine the cause and origin of a fire that did about $10,000 damage to one unit at a duplex in the 4700 block of Ocean Beach Highway. The fire call came in just after 3 am; crews from Longview and Cowlitz 2 responded, finding a fire in the rear of the building. It didn’t take long to get the fire put out, then the followup took a couple of hours. Fire officials say that damage from the fire was limited to the living room and its contents. Four people were displaced by the fire, and are now being assisted by the Red Cross. It’s noted that the building’s smoke detector did not help to alert the residents; no injuries were reported.
