OBH Traffic Shift

Posted on 30th January 2015 at 09:19

Starting today, traffic on an aging bridge on Ocean Beach Highway will be reduced to one lane, as replacement of a deteriorating bridge deck gets under way. The bridge is just west of Stella, near Bunker Hill Road. The Washington Department of Transportation says that this portion of Ocean Beach Highway was first built back in 1930, was widened in 1950, and carries about 4,200 vehicles per day. The westbound lane of this bridge is built on rock, while the eastbound lane is supported by a bridge with a wood deck. The deck has been monitored for several years, and recent analysis shows that replacement is needed. Starting today, flaggers will direct traffic in each direction, with delays of up to a half-hour possible through that area. Work is being done during daylight hours. If you’re heading to or from the coast, it might be a good idea to use Highway 30 in Oregon.
