Former Clatskanie Police Officer Joseph Harrison has been sentenced to 180 days in jail, after he pleaded guilty to charges of two counts of first-degree burglary, and one count of official misconduct. Last August, the 35 year-old Harrison was arrested on charges that he had illegally entered three homes in Clatskanie during April and July, stealing vicodin and oxycontin. Oregon Attorney General John Kroger reports that Harrison entered the guilty pleas in Columbia County Circuit Court, and has also been sentenced to three years probation. If he violates the terms of his probation, he’ll face up to 19 months in prison. Kroger says that law enforcement officers have enormous responsibility and power, and must be held accountable when they break the law.
