Pathways Money Pulled

The City of Longview is pulling its financial support for Pathways 2020, saying that there hasn’t been any real benefit to the city. City officials and other members of the Cowlitz-Wahkiakum Council of Governments are asking questions about the Community Report Card that Pathways develops every other year; a recent survey of COG members shows that there is little perceived value to the CRC. Council member Steve Moon echoes those concerns. Eric Yakovich with the Pathways 2020 Board of Directors asked for a six-month postponement on the vote, asking to open a dialogue with the City Council and with others that have concerns. He says that they recognizes that they “haven’t been proactive with communications,” and he asked for more time, allowing for discussions about the issues that are being raised. The council eventually voted to pull financial support for the organization; that totals $4,000 in the upcoming year.
