Predation Tour

Posted on 4th April 2018 at 08:59

Third District Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler plans to get a first-hand look at the damage being done by sea lions to endangered salmon and steelhead runs, as she takes a trip to Bonneville Dam today. This afternoon at 2 pm, Beutler plans to join with the Army Corps of Engineers, the Washington and Oregon Fish and Wildlife Departments and tribal members to tour Bonneville and to see where the sea lions are having their biggest impact on native salmonid populations. Beutler is currently sponsoring the Endangered Salmon and Fisheries Predation Act, which would allow local and tribal managers to lethally remove a limited number of sea lions. That bill is through the committee process, and is now awaiting a vote by the full House.
