Public Works Contract

Posted on 8th May 2013 at 15:47

City of Kelso Public Works employees have a new three-year contract, approved at last night’s Kelso City Council meeting. The contract has no pay increase this year, followed by two-percent raises in 2014 and 2015. Mayor David Futcher says that the raises are connected to an agreement to join the city’s health care plan…pwcontract…It’s projected that the pay raises will cost about $46,000 over the next two years, but it’s also projected that the city will save $47,000 in health care costs in just the first year of the contract. Currently, the union representing Kelso Public Works employees covers 17 members; the department also has a current vacancy which is covered by this contract.
