Local banker and philanthropist Rob Quoidbach is being honored as the 2014 Lower Columbia College Alumnus of the Year. The award was presented last Saturday night at the LCC Foundation “Horns and Halos Gala,” an event held in support of the LCC Student Success Endowment. Over the years, Quoidback has funded annual and endowed scholarships for LCC students, along with his support for faculty development programs and capital campaigns. Quoidbach and his family have deep connections to LCC, going back to the very early days of the college. His mother, Gay Quoidbach, helped with the initial fund drive in 1934; she also taught the college choir and Glee Club in LCC’s early days. Gay Quoidbach also composed LCC’s Alma Mater. Rob Quoidbach entered LCC at the age of 17, eventually moving on to Stanford and a long career as a building contractor and a founding member of Columbia Bank. LCC Foundation Executive Director Erin Brown says that Quoidbach has made a huge difference to the students and faculty at LCC, along with the community at large. She says that he truly represents the values of the LCC family in every way.
