Another private timberland owner is expanding charges for hunting access on their lands. Rayonier is now planning to charge $65 for a permit to hunt on land in Western Washington, covering property in Wahkiakum, Pacific, Grays Harbor, Clallam and Jefferson counties. Company officials say that a variety of permit levels are available, including low-cost general access hunting permits on 175,000 acres of land. The General Access permits cover that 175,000 acres, and are available form August 1 to December 31. They cover one adult and one person age 18 or younger, and cost $65 apiece. “Premium Seasonal” permits cost $150 or $200, and will allow two adults and their children under the age of 18 into specific parcels in Grays Harbor, Clallam and Jefferson Counties, also including camping. “Exclusive Seasonal” permits will allow access to gated areas in Pacific County; 175 permits costing $385 each will allow access to 31,000 acres on Fossil Creek, and there are also permits that are being auctioned off that will let hunters into 15,000 acres of gated land on Salmon Creek. “Recreational License Units” can also be purchased, granting exclusive use to those areas year-round.
