Longview’s red light violation detection cameras are scheduled to “go hot” tomorrow, starting off the 18-month pilot project with the cameras in the city. Red light detection cameras have been installed at 15th and Ocean Beach, Northwest Nichols and Ocean Beach, and at all intersection approaches at 38th and Ocean Beach. The cameras will operate 24 hours a day, and will capture images of every car that runs a red light at the intersection. Warning signs have been posted to alert drivers about the camera monitoring. Tomorrow starts a 30-day warning period for violators; during this first month of operation, warning notices will be sent to violators. Starting on February first, violators will receive a $124 ticket. More information about the red light cameras is available on the City of Longview website.
