River Rescue

Posted on 30th January 2015 at 09:22

Some additional information is coming out about yesterday morning’s rescue in the Cowlitz River; initial reports indicated that a youth or a child was floating down the river, but Longview Police now confirm that it was an adult male that was pulled out of the water shortly before noon. Calls about someone floating down the river start coming in at about 11:40 yesterday morning; callers said that a “youth” wearing a red coat was floating on the Longview side of the river. The person was seen going past the Frontier convalescent center; police and fire personnel responded downstream, and a Longview Police Officer was able to grab the man and pulled him out, using a dock next to some condos on River Road. The man was transported to Saint John Medical Center by AMR. No other details on he ended up in the water, but he was able to tell police that he was walking along the river bank and fell in, grabbing a log that was floating by. The man’s name has not been released.
