Sales Tax Exemption

Posted on 4th April 2014 at 16:56

Senator Maria Cantwell says that Washington residents should have another two years that they’ll be able to deduct sales tax expenses on their income tax returns. Cantwell says that the sales tax deduction extension was included during a bill markup session of the Senate Finance Committee, included as part of the “Expiring Provisions Improvement Reform and Efficiency Act.” This bill would renew a package of tax exemptions that lapsed at the end of last year. Other measures include tax credits for businesses that hire veterans, that build low-income housing, invest in research and development and produce clean energy. The deduction is available for this year’s tax returns, but it would NOT be available next year, without Congressional action.
