The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal shooting that took place Saturday night in Salkum. The incident took place at about 8 pm on Saturday, at a home in the 200 block of Stowell Road. Chief Criminal Deputy Stacy Brown says that it looks like some sort of neighborly dispute led to the shooting, possibly over a dog. Medical units responded to the scene immediately, but they were delayed from attending to the victim for several minutes, as Deputies made sure that the area was safe before the paramedics went in. Travis Shive, 28, was taken to Centralia Providence Hospital with at least one gunshot wound, and was eventually declared dead late Saturday night. Brown says that the suspected shooter was detained and questioned Saturday night, but it’s not known if he has been arrested as of yet. An autopsy to confirm the cause and manner of death is planned for tomorrow. An update on the investigation should be out later today, as well.
