Posted on 29th March 2011 at 07:42

Commercial salmon fishermen will be allowed a short season on the Columbia River, running for four hours this evening. The Columbia River Compact announced that the main stem of the river will be open to commercial gill nets between 7:30 and 11:30 tonight, in zones 1 to 4, upstream to Kelley Point in Portland. Anglers will be allowed to keep fin-clipped Chinook salmon, shad and white sturgeon. Full details, including information on sanctuary areas, are available from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.
