They still haven’t figured out exactly what caused a Saturday morning fire that did about $20,000 damage to a home at 2678 Maplewood Drive in Longview. Firefighters were called to the house at 10:13 Saturday morning, when smoke was seen coming through the roof of the house. By the time fire crews arrived at the end of a steep and somewhat remote road, heavy smoke was coming out of the roof, eaves and attic of the house. An initial search was done in the living space of the house, with no one found inside. They determined that the fire was in the shop side of the building, and had extended into the attic. It took about 20 minutes to get the main part of the fire knocked down, followed by another two hours of overhaul. The investigation into the cause of the fire is continuing; no injuries were reported.
