Scanewa Drowning

Posted on 16th May 2018 at 09:04

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 57 year-old man drowned Monday evening, as he worked to save a boy that was struggling in a pond near Lake Scanewa, up by Randle. Deputies and aid crews were called to some property on Falls Road in Randle at about 7 pm Monday, when it was reported that the man had gone under the water. Those on the scene reported that three boys had been playing in the pond; a 10 year-old boy apparently stepped into some deeper water, and began to struggle. The older man went in, and was able to help save the boy. He started struggling himself, and then went under. The body was recovered yesterday afternoon. The man’s name has not been released, but it’s noted that he is a resident of the Randle area.
