In Skamania County, one active ground search is being called off, and another is going to continue for one more day. Undersheriff Dave Cox says that the search for Alejandra Wilson, 23, is being suspended; he says that extensive work by aerial resources turned up no sign of Wilson. Cox says that they covered areas of the Pacific Coast Trail in Skamania County, along with off-trail areas. He says that there’s no evidence that Wilson is in Skamania County, so that effort is being suspended.
After limited air and ground searching yesterday in the Big Lava Beds area, Cox also says that today’s effort will be an intensive, low-level aerial search, trying to find Kristopher Zitzewitz, 31, of Portland. If that’s not successful, then one more intensive ground search will be conducted Saturday morning. Zitzewitz has been missing for nearly a week, after he got separated from other hikers as they searched for caves in the rugged terrain near Goose Lake.
