The cause of a fire that destroyed a shop outside of a home in the seven thousand block of Old Pacific Highway North is still being investigated. Crews from Cowlitz Fire District 6 in Castle Rock were joined by Cowlitz 2 Fire and Rescue, Cowlitz District 3 in Toutle and by the Toledo Fire Department in dealing with the blaze, which was reported around 6:15 pm, and which was visible from I-5. Flames were seen shooting out of the shed, and several explosions were reported. It took about 90 minutes to get the fire knocked down; the shop and its contents were a total loss, including several vehicles that were in and around the building. No one was home at the time of the fire, and it’s reported that this home was in the process of foreclosure. There’s been no dollar estimate on damage as of yet.
