Posted on 28th July 2014 at 09:08

Charges of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and second-degree burglary are being filed against Dwight Andrew Rogers, 22, of Longview, after he allegedly pulled a knife and lunged at a security guard that was trying to hold him for arrest by Longview Police. Around 7:30 pm, employees at the 15th Avenue Safeway store call Longview Police, reporting that they were trying to detain a shoplifting suspect. A few minutes later, it was reported that a Loss Prevention person was yelling for someone to “get on the ground.” It was around that time that Rogers allegedly pulled a knife and lunged at the Loss Prevention person. The security guard was eventually able to get Rogers on the ground, as Officers arrived to complete the arrest. Rogers was arrested without further incident; officers also report the recovery of a knife. Rogers is now being held without bail in the Cowlitz County Jail, pending his first court appearance.
