You can help bring a new look to the St. Helens Shopping Center on 30th Avenue in Longview, as Wahkiakum High School art teacher Patrick Carrico paints a new mural on the side of the building. The Cowlitz County Health Department is partnering with the center’s owner and Carrico on a community project to celebrate the center’s pledge to provide healthy foods and fresh produce to its local customers. Health Department officials say that this new mural will depict the “history of food” in Cowlitz County, starting with the Native Americans and progressing to modern times. Volunteers are needed to help complete the mural on the 30th Avenue side of the building; the work party starts at 10 am, with paint supplies provided. Come on by and help to create a new image for the Highlands community.
