Joel Howard Darvell, 36, of Castle Rock is under arrest on a first-degree assault charge, after he allegedly fired a gun during a domestic violence incident that took place early Saturday morning. Castle Rock Police say that they were called to a home on Green Acres Drive at about 2:30 Saturday morning, where it was reported that Darvell had been in a fight with his wife. During that dispute, Darvell supposedly fired a single round from a .45 handgun, with the bullet hitting an inside wall. It’s also alleged that Darvell assaulted his teenage son as he tried to intervene. Darvell was booked on the first-degree assault charge, along with unlawful possession of a gun and fourth-degree domestic violence assault. He’s currently being held without bail, pending a court hearing.
