Longview Police are investigating an incident reported early this morning, where a woman living in the 400 block of 19th Avenue said that her husband had shot an intruder. Around 12:20 am, the woman called 911, claiming that someone was trying to break into their house. She said that her husband had detained the man, armed with some sort of firearm. A few minutes later, the woman said that her husband had shot the suspect, but he ran away. Officers checked the area, eventually ending up in the 400 block 25th Avenue. They made contact with an injured man in the back of a home in that area, also finding evidence that he’d visited several other homes in the same block. The man was read his Miranda rights, and then was taken to St. John Medical Center for treatment. Hospital officials say that the man has been released from the hospital, but it’s not known if he was treated for a gunshot wound. James Cody Farris, 36, is now being held on charges of third-degree theft, second-degree car prowling and felony harassment, as the investigation continues.
