The Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a car crash reported early yesterday morning near Toutle. A 911 call came in a few minutes after 3 yesterday morning, when a passer-by reported finding a car in the ditch in the 600 block of Sightly Road. The caller said that there was no one around the car; when Deputies arrived, they reported that there was still steam coming from underneath the hood. After an hour after the first 911 call, someone else called and gave the name of the man that was supposedly driving, also claiming that he’d been driving under the influence. That second caller also reported that the woman that owned the car had been injured. The effort turned to locating that woman; Deputies called hospitals in Longview, Centralia and Vancouver, without success. A little before 11 am, the daughter of the car’s owner called the Sheriff’s Office saying that they were in the Emergency Department at St. John Medical Center. An interview was conducted, but no action by the Sheriff’s Office has been reported.
