Benito Santiago Chavez, 20, is under arrest, after he was identified as the person who vandalized Cliff’s Hilltop Market yesterday afternoon. Around 3:30 pm, someone reported that a suspect had tagged the market with white paint, and then headed off in the direction of the skate park. Kelso Police contacted Chavez at the park a few minutes later, taking him into custody on two counts of third-degree malicious mischief valued over $50. Bail on those two counts totals $2,000. It’s also reported that Chavez is permanently banned from the market, and will be banned from the skate park for a year.
