The word is getting out that the Southwest Washington YMCA in Longview is looking for a new CEO, as board members report that Roosevelt Smith left the position late last week. Citing confidentiality regarding personnel issues, the YMCA Board of Directors is declining to say if Smith was terminated, or if he left of his own accord. The departure comes just two months after 57 year-old Tomi Jean Dupper of Longview was arrested on charges that she had embezzled money from the organization over a number of years. An audit of the books indicates that at least 180 thousand dollars had been stolen since 2009. Smith was Dupper’s immediate supervisor, but Board Chair Tom Rozwood tells the Daily News that they do not suspect that Smith was involved in any illegal activities. Smith had served as the Y’s CEO for 12 years, and had been a program director for three years prior to his promotion. Membership Services Director Lynda Wagner is currently handling daily operations at the facility on 15th Avenue.
