There’s a special joint meeting of the Longview City Council, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and the Historic Preservation Commission planned for this evening, where the three panels will review proposed designs for the Washington Way Bridge over Lake Sacajawea. Tonight’s meeting is set to begin at 6 pm, and will be held in the Longview City Hall second floor training room. In June, the city held an open house, where several possible designs were presented for public comment. Based on those comments, the design team has selected a “preferred alternative.” Because of the bridge location, approval is needed from the Historic Preservation Commission and the Parks Board before things can move to the next step. It’s currently planned for the project to go out to bid in May of next year, with construction to start in July of next year. This evening’s joint meeting is open to the public.
