The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office says that it looks like alcohol may have been a factor in a fatal motorcycle crash that took place yesterday afternoon near St. Helens. Around 5:30 pm, Deputies and aid personnel were called to the area of Ross Road and Millard Road, where they found the 911 caller attempting to administer CPR to a injured man. LifeFlight was also called in, but paramedics declared Aaron M. Chappell, 36, of St. Helens dead at the scene. Sheriff Jeff Dickerson says that it looks like Chappell lost control of his motorcycle and crashed, but the reason for that is still unclear. He does say that it appears that speed and rider impairment may have been factors. The crash investigation is continuing.
