The Weather Service says that a “potent fall storm” is bearing down on the region, bringing heavy rains and high winds by tomorrow afternoon. The jet stream is expected to sag down over the area, also bringing the remnants of a typhoon that is currently located off of Japan’s east coast. The rain and wind is expected to start tomorrow afternoon, with up to two inches falling in the Coast Range and Western Cascades by Saturday morning. Some areas could get up to eight inches of rain out of this system; wind gusts of up to 50 miles an hour are also expected on the coast. This combination of heavy rain and gusty winds could lead to tree damage and power outages. Driving conditions may also be challenging.
