Local librarians are out with a big “thank you” as this year’s Summer Reading Program wraps up. Longview Library officials report that nearly 4,800 youth and more than 700 adults attended 160 library-sponsored events during this year’s program. More than 1,000 children and more than 250 teens signed up to read for fun and prizes, and nearly 600 new library cards were issued. A record-breaking 977 people were able to qualify for free Cowlitz Black Bears tickets, attending on “Summer Reading Night, which took place on July 30th. The librarians in Longview, Kelso, Castle Rock and Kalama also have high praise and kudos going out to the sponsors and volunteers who helped to support the program.
