Summer Steelhead

Posted on 16th May 2018 at 08:57

The Summer Steelhead season opens today on the main stem of the Columbia River, with the river open to fishing from the I-5 Bridge in Vancouver to the river mouth at Buoy 10. That portion of the river is also open to retention of Shad and Hatchery Jack Chinook, but adult Chinook continue to be off-limits. Upstream of the I-5 bridge, the river remains closed to all salmon and steelhead fishing, but it is open for bass, walleye and shad. Anglers need to be ready for high-water conditions, due to heavy runoff from the snow that’s melting on mountains in Eastern Washington and in Canada.
