The Longview School Board is deciding not to hire a permanent replacement for Suzanne Cusick at this time, and will pursue an interim superintendent of schools for the time being. At last night’s meeting, the School Board declined to hire either of the two men that had been brought in as finalists for the position. Board President Jennifer Leach says that they decided to direct the search firm being used to recruit individuals that would be interested in serving as an interim superintendent until a permanent replacement is found. They say that this screening and interviewing of possible candidates will be done in executive sessions, due to the time crunch involved. Leach says that they would like to have this process completed “prudently, but quickly,” without input from a staff and citizen advisory panel. The agreement with the search firm includes the search for an interim superintendent, along with a provision for a second round of final candidate selection.
