Additional details are now coming out about the stabbing death of Derek Wagner, 27, of Kalama. He was found dead Sunday morning, in the yard of a home on Asotin Street in Tacoma. An autopsy shows that he died from multiple stab wounds, after having attended a party at a home in the neighborhood where he was found. It’s reported that Wagner had recently been released from prison, after having served nearly 5 years of a 7 1/2-year sentence on a conviction for first-degree burglary. Prior to his going to prison, Wagner had been connected to the Aryan Nations and other white supremacy groups, but family members say that he had turned his life around; they say that he had quit drinking and quit smoking, looking for a new start. It’s still unclear what he was doing in Tacoma, and why he was at this party. Family member say that Tacoma Police told them that there were signs of a severe beating, and possibly even a gunshot wound to his chest. Tacoma Police are investigating the death as a homicide; family members are making a plea to other who may have been at the party to come forward with information.
